Who we are
Located along the Detroit River, LaSalle Rowing Club (LRC) proudly offers a recreational program for all fitness and experience levels. If you are looking for a new challenge then LRC is for you! Rowing is an excellent way to improve your overall well-being and physical fitness while enjoying great weather on the water. This challenging and rewarding sport is a great way to get active which can become a lifelong passion. The LRC is a not-for-profit organization run by volunteers and governed by a member-elected Board of Directors.
Our History
David R. Sellars was one of the original members who founded the Windsor Rowing Club in 1970. At this time the Club was at Red's Marina in LaSalle. In 1975 there were a number of young rowers who rowed at Sandwich Secondary School. Bob Sellars, Tricia Bondy, Doug Sellars, Brian Schwab, Mark Semande and Eva Meloche participated successfully in many events around Ontario and in Wyandotte, Michigan. The club later relocated to a Boat House at 40 Laurier Drive on the Detroit river. The club was later renamed LaSalle Rowing Club. As part of the parkland redevelopment the Club was incorporated into the Riverdance Project at 1 Laurier Drive in 2011.
